The main attraction at the BMW booth in Chicago is without a doubt the BMW M6 Gran Coupe. The four-door M6 made its debut earlier last month at the Detroit Auto Show and is now entering the auto shows circuit.
The first M6 model with four-doors will start at $113,000, only $3800 more than the M6 Coupe. European market launch will be in May 2013, followed shortly by a North American debut.
Under the hood, the M6 GC packs the S63Tü high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that produces 412 kW/560 hp and 680 Newton meters (502 lb-ft) on tap between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm, while maximum output is developed between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm. The engine revs to a maximum of 7,200 rpm. 0-60mph is achieved in 4.1 seconds with a top speed limited to 155mph.
U.S. customers will also get a choice between a DCT and a manual transmission.
The show car is painted in the stunning BMW Individual Frozen Silver and comes equipped with ceramic brakes and its gold calipers.
