A little earlier than planned, the first photos of the new BMW G38 5 Series have landed on the Internet. Even before the premiere at the 2017 Auto China in Shanghai, we see the 13.3-centimeter extended sedan, which is developed and built exclusively for the Chinese market. The first pictures show the BMW G38 5 Series, which is over five meters long, and has an identical design as the G30 5 Series.
The 2017 BMW 5 Series is truly recognizable only on the extended rear doors, as the extra length of the G38 is the only benefit for the rear passengers. The second row of the extended sedan offers the same space as the short wheelbase of the 7 Series.
The engine range of the G38 5 Series long version includes the BMW 525Li, 530Li and 540Li models, followed by at least one iPerformance variant with a plug-in hybrid drive.
The offer of assistance systems and special equipment largely corresponds to the well-known program of the BMW G30 5 Series, but some additional comfort and luxury features are available for the rear. Starting with the active seat ventilation and a massage function for the two comfortable single seats, the new 5er also includes the removable BMW Touch Command tablet, which has the usual functions of the infotainment system with additional displays on the backrests of the front seat.
More photos will be unveiled this month.
