BMW Motorrad has chosen Intermot, in Cologne, Germany, as the launching pad from which to introduce three new very exciting vehicles.

The first of which is a revamped and refreshed version of the highly regarded S 1000 R naked-standard, also referred to as a “roadster.” The naked version of the S 1000 R has been produced since 2014, in its current form, and though much time hasn’t passed, it competes in a highly competitive segment within the premium motorcycle market. Offering to riders a road going alternative to the track real S 1000 double R, the S 1000 single R competes with bikes like the KTM Superduke and the Triumph Speed Triple R, both also have been lauded by the motorcycle media.

The second is a new iteration of the R nineT. This new version is sport oriented, just as was previously rumored and as we relayed to you. This new café racer inspired variant adorns a front cowl, not unlike the R 90 S from the distant past.

This vehicle is quite promising, in terms of its potential to contribute to BMW’s attainment of its ambitious goal of 200,000 units per annum. As many have modified their R nineTs to more closely resemble the typical café racer look, there is clearly a demand for such a bike. However, this new bike could pull sales from the highly profitable and highly successful standard R nineT, but this depends largely upon pricing and positioning.

Last, but not least, the third addition is the newly refreshed K 1600 GT. Occupying a position near the pinnacle of the brand’s offerings, the K 1600 GT offers a very powerful power plant in an elegant and comfortable, though very heavy, package.

We will have more information on these three new vehicles later today. Be sure to check back soon for full specifications.
