Long Beach Blue Metallic BMW M2 may be the perfect paint job for a sports car. The M2 isn’t offered with a lot of standard finishes but Long Beach Blue is one of our favorites. The vibrant blue color distinctively emphasizes the aggressive and bulky lines of the M2, while ensuring that the M2 will stand out anywhere it goes.
The M2 derives its genes from cars like the BMW 2002ti and the BMW E46 M3. This translates into a compact body – by today’s standards, at least – and fast on the road and on the track. We tested it out at Laguna Seca and the M2 produced some exciting results. The M2 is powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology capable of delivering 370 horsepower enough to propel it to 62mph (0-100km/h) in just 4.3 seconds – if optioned with the fast 7-speed M Dual Clutch Transmission system.
The BMW M engineers have worked tirelessly to reduce weight wherever possible, improve rigidity and hone the M2’s responses via sophisticated chassis technology and electronics, while upgrading the aerodynamics and cooling. But there are always areas of improvement, like for example, the exhaust system.
The exhaust system upgrade is one of the first items on a long list of upgrades for many BMW owners. A proper exhaust system gives the car a slight performance bump, while providing a welcome improvement in sound note.
The M Performance Exhaust System seen here consists of a catless downpipe and a rear muffler system with quad exhaust pipes. It was installed by European Auto Source and gives the M2 the sound we’ve been all dying for. To make things more appealing, the exhaust system comes with a Bluetooth control module, allowing the owner to open/close the exhaust valve with a click of a button.
