At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, BMW launched a new color for the i8. Dubbed the BMW i8 Protonic Red edition, the car was presented as a world premiere and a limited-run model that had a couple of distinctive design cues on it, from the red paint to the new wheels and interior trims. Today, we have a new i8 with an equally stunning red color. The guys from BMW Abu Dhabi just delivered a BMW i8 dressed up in Lava Red and we have to say we’re impressed.
While the Protonic Red BMW i8 came with things like Frozen Grey Metallic contrast accents, new W-spoke 470 light-allow wheels painted in Orbit Grey Metallic with hubs painted in Aluminum Matte and “i8” embossing on the front head restraints as well as door sill strips bearing the lettering “Protonic Red Edition”, the Abu Dhabi model is a bit different.
The customer who ordered the car wanted it to be fitted with all the AC Schnitzer parts he could get his hands on. Therefore, the Lava Red i8 in the photos below can be seen wearing five-spoke wheels, a big carbon fiber spoiler up front, carbon fiber side sills and a big wing on the boot, all of them from the German tuner. This sort of reminds us of a Crystal White BMW i8 that was wearing the same package not too long ago.
The Lava Red color is the one that attracts the most attention and, combined with the white leather inside the cabin and the blue seat belts, it brings about an exciting contrast. It’s unknown whether the color is part of the BMW Individual Program or it was painted on by the dealership itself.
Either way, the customer will love his new car as it looks absolutely stunning.
