The open-top 4-seater – MINI Convertible – goes out to dealerships on March 5th 2016 with elegantly stretched lines, a noticeable increase in sporty flair and available in five engine variants.
Three petrol and two diesel engines of the latest generation with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology are available to choose from for the MINI Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 3.8 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 139 – 100 g/km). The new MINI John Cooper Works Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.5 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 152 g/km) likewise lines up for the start with a 170 kW/231 hp 4-cylinder turbo engine.
The base model – a 1.2-liter small three-cylinder engine – will be available at launch time and will cost 21,900 euros. The B38 three-cylinder engine produces 102 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque sent to the front wheels. The MINI One Cabrio will accelerate to 100 km/h in a bit over 10 seconds and can reach a top speed just below 200 km/h.
In addition to the new MINI One Convertible, the engine range at market launch includes two additional three-cylinder models – the 136 horsepower Cooper and the 116 hp diesel Cooper D. The four-cylinder models Cooper S, Cooper SD and John Cooper Works will produce up to 231 horsepower. The four-cylinder diesel B47 powers the MINI Cooper SD Convertible producing 170 hp.
The new generation of the MINI Convertible is based on the front-wheel drive UKL architecture and towers over its predecessor with an exterior length of 3.82 meters – nearly 10 centimeters longer. In addition, the MINI F57 has become a bit wider, which is intended to bring up the interior space for the four occupants.
The fabric roof of the small car can now be ordered with an incorporated Union Jack emphasizes the Britishness of the vehicle and the entire brand.
