BMW is preparing to launch an i8 Frozen Grey Edition for Germany. Fifteen units have already been built and will be put on sale in the near future.
Unfortunately, the name is somewhat misleading, since the outer skin of the BMW i8 Frozen Grey Edition is not a matte finish in Frozen Grey. Instead, for all special edition i8s BMW uses the Sophisto Grey color with accent strips in Frozen Grey – a combination that is also available beyond limited special editions.
The 15 copies of the BMW i8 Frozen Grey Edition for Germany have extensive special equipment and therefore a list price of around 140,000 euros. Among other things, they include 20-inch light-alloy wheels styling 625, a head-up display and a special interior trim.
The BMW i8 uses a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and BMW eDrive technology in the form of an electric drive system. The 1.5-liter combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8, while the 96 kW/131 hp electric drive sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles), and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
