The center stage at the Mercedes stand in Frankfurt is reserved for the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and C63 AMG.
The competitor to the BMW 4 Series Coupe was crafted after the more luxurious S-Class Coupe featuring many of the same styling cues.
Up front, the new C-Class Coupe stands out with powerful-looking grille flanked by headlights also inspired by the S-Class Coupe and adorned with LED lights. From the side, the aggressive slope of the roof and the high beltline give the C-Class Coupe a sporty and elegant look.
A duck-bill spoiler integrated into the rear decklid and horizontal taillights complete the exterior design of the new compact premium coupe.
Inside the cabin Mercedes stays true to its style and high-quality materials. The sports seats have been designed specifically for the coupe offering sporty comfort. The interface is Mercedes’ COMAND system which includes a large display screen located on the dash.
Based on the new MRA modular platform for rear-wheel-drive autos, the new C-Class Coupe should be lighter than the outgoing model. The car is also bigger than its predecessor: length is up by 3.7 inches and the width is up by 1.6 inches.
Mercedes-AMG C63
The competitor to the F80 BMW M3 launches with two power variants coming from a 4.0 liter V8 bi-turbocharged engine that delivers 470 hp and 650Nm (479 lb-ft) in the base model, and 503 hp and 700Nm (516 lb-ft) in the C63 S AMG. This is the same engine found on the Mercedes-AMG GT sports coupe. Automobile uses the entry-level C63 AMG for this test.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission.
Both cars go on sale next year.
