Comparing a BMW F10 M5 30 Jahre Edition with a BMW F82 M4 isn’t something you see every day, so when the folks at EVO Magazine took the two sporty athletes to the track, things were bound to get interesting.
The video below shows some tire squeal, engine noise and drift action around the track. The point of this comparison is to see whether the bigger M car warrants the price tag, space and handling compared to the smaller BMW M4.
Specifications wise, the BMW F10 M5 is certainly the more powerful car. But, with a 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine developing almost 600 horsepower, it is still a car that tips the scale at 4,387 lbs for the DCT model.
On the other hand, the less powerful BMW M4 is powered by a 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline-six engine, delivering 425 horsepower. The M4 weighs in at a respectable 3,585 lbs with the DCT box.
The M5 is a bigger, bolder and definitely a more roomier vehicle while the M4 is a nimble coupe that’s outstanding on the race track. With the acceleration times being similar, what happens when these two are compared on the track ?
