Perfection takes time as a full year has passed from the moment Rolls-Royce unveiled the Spectre and the start of deliveries to customers. Touted as being an ultra-luxury electric super coupe, the first product from Goodwood without the venerable V12 engine is officially en route to early adopters. To celebrate the milestone, the elite brand part of the BMW Group has invited European journalists to discover the EV at home in West Sussex.
Fresh images show the Spectre with a striking purple exterior finish that continues inside the posh cabin where it has been combined with the finest white leather. This is the first of several EVs to come in the next years as RR has already announced it’ll be entirely electric by the end of the decade. The first foray into zero-emission territory is an imposingly large two-door coupe with a massive 102-kWh battery that has enough juice for 329 miles (530 kilometers) of range in the WLTP cycle.
Rolls-Royce has engineered the Spectre with all-wheel drive courtesy of one electric motor mounted at each axle. The front e-motor delivers 255 hp (190 kW) and 365 Nm (269 lb-ft) of torque while the rear e-motor is good for 483 hp (360 kW) and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft). Interestingly, RR mentions this dual-motor setup equates to an internal combustion gasoline engine with 577 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft).
Even though it weighs a whopping 2,890 kilograms (6,371 pounds), Spectre is properly quick since it needs just 4.4 seconds to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) or 4.5 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 km/h). Images don’t do it justice as the four-seater EV is intimidatingly large, measuring 5475 mm (215.5 in) long, 2017 mm (79.4 in) wide without the mirrors, and 1573 mm (61.9 in) tall. It has a massive wheelbase of 3210 mm (126.3 in) and won’t be easy to maneuver around turn given the 12.7-meter turning circle.
Fun fact – it’s longer, wider, and taller than the latest BMW 7 Series (G70).
