One of the biggest custom bike shows in the world is getting ready to open its gates. CUSTOMBIKE-SHOW will be taking place from December 6 to December 8 in the East Westphalian town of Bad Salzuflen, Germany. BMW Motorrad says it will bring its most powerful boxer engine ever made there, the new R18 unit unveiled earlier this week. The 2-cylinder monster will be shown on the BMW Motorrad Concept R 18/2.
The concept bike celebrated its world premiere earlier this year at the EICMA in Milan, Italy. Back then though, we didn’t know any details about the engine, details which were revealed earlier this week. This time, the audience present at the CUSTOMBIKE-SHOW in Germany will have a different perspective on the engine fitted on the BMW Motorrad Concept R 18/2. That won’t be the only surprise BMW Motorrad has in store at this venue though.
For the seventh time already, BMW Motorrad is highlighting the customizing potential of its models in cooperation with selected customizer garages. With a total of 11 models, the entire customizing range will be on show at the stand of BMW Motorrad extending over an area of approx. 180 square meters – from the individually customized series production bike to true custom bike treasures requiring a great deal of craft skills.
The show will also feature the BMW Motorrad R 5 Homage along with selected “SoulFuel Bikes”, spectacularly converted bikes by renowned customizers based on current as well as earlier BMW motorcycles. The Maximator based on the BMW R 1200 C is another highlight.
BMW Motorrad Concept R18 will make its world debut at 2019 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este
The custom bike was built with meticulous manual care by the BMW Motorrad development engineer Ulf Musekamp, who was also involved in the realisation of the BMW R nineT family. The Type 18 models from customizer Auto Fabrica, Achilles von Kraftstoffschmiede, the winner of the Factory Class Sultans of Sprint and other exciting R nineT derivatives round off the portfolio at the BMW Motorrad stand.
