It’s about that time of the week again. We’re actually a little bit late with the podcast this week and we apologize for that. However, it’s now live and we have a good one for you this week because it’s all about last week. Last week, I was in Spartanburg, South Carolina, home to BMW’s largest manufacturing facility and Performance Center East. I was there as a part of the company’s annual Test Fest, where journalists were given the chance to drive all of its latest cars, including the new BMW M8 and M235i.
In this new podcast episode, I tell you about what it’s like and I give a brief review of each of the cars I drove in Spartanburg. I do it in chronological order, so it starts out with an ALPINA B7 review, actually. It was the first car I had the chance to drive that day so it’s the first car I talk about. I then move on to the BMW M850i Gran Coupe, a car I was very excited about and am very happy with.
After that, I actually took a break for lunch and took a plant tour of the Spartanburg plant and its newest battery assembly facility. That was kind of boring, so I don’t talk about it too much in the podcast.
Following the plant tour, the good stuff really began. I had the chance to drive the BMW M8 Competition Coupe on track, which was very interesting. And I immediately jumped into a BMW M235i Gran Coupe right after that. What’s interesting about the M235i is that I drove it on both road and track. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said of the BMW M8, which I only drove on track.
The next day, I actually had the chance to drive a Rolls Royce Cullinan Black Badge from Spartanburg up to Ashville, North Carolina. We were the first people outside of Rolls Royce to drive the Black Badge, which made us feel quite special. That was one very interesting trip and a story I hope you enjoy.
