The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been recently revealed online and will celebrate its world premiere next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Until the market introduction, test prototypes for the F44 model generation are continuing their final experimental phase (FEP), which involves mostly deploying uncamouflaged or just slightly covered pre-production models onto streets. Such an example of the new BMW M235i xDrive was recently caught in the wild in the town of Nurburg, Germany, while it was heading for the Nürburgring circuit.
The M Performance version of the 2 Series Gran Coupe has been photographed in detail while undertaking a roundabout on its way to the Nordschleife. The scooped M235i xDrive was finished in Black Sapphire metallic color and featured BMW Individual high-gloss Black window line and 18-inch V style 554 M wheels.
The new high-performance 2 Series Gran Coupe model is further individualized thanks to the Cerium Grey finish for the exterior mirror casings, the honeycomb-pattern connected radiator grille and the front bumper grille ornaments. The spotted M235i xDrive test vehicle was also equipped with the bespoke M brake system, signaled by the blue calipers with the M logo.
The 306 PS (301 hp in the US) 2 Series Gran Coupe looks very extrovert and extravagant. It looks highly athletic for a car that is underpinned by a front-driven platform. The F44 model series harmoniously blends in several styling details already seen on the 8 Series Gran Coupe or on the current 4 Series Gran Coupe.
The sloping roofline and the specific Hofmeister kink gives the whole car a dramatic and poised stance, while the M rear spoiler and the tetragonal M exhausts pipes underline the sports-oriented aura of the new M235i xDrive.
