From France comes a series of new photos that show us the BMW 1 Series F40 with Sport Line in Melbourne Red. While most of the previously shown 1 Series with sporty configuration wore the expensive M Sport package, the now pictured 118i with Sport Line will likely be one of the most popular choices.
The Sport Line is based on the Advantage equipment package and features specific design elements. They are painted in high-gloss black and can be found in the central air intake of the front apron and in the rear diffuse. On request, the exterior mirror caps can also be delivered in black at no extra charge.
Included in the price of the Sport Line are, among others, the park distance control sensors – front and rear, the storage package and cruise control, 17 inch alloy wheels double spoke Type 549 Bicolor, LED headlights and taillights, sports seats and sports leather steering wheel with multifunction, and the light package.
For a surcharge, the 17-inch wheels can also be ordered with designated sports tires.
In these photos, we see the Melbourne Red BMW 1 Series with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional and two 10.25 inch displays. Also installed is the Parking Assistant package with reversing assistant.
In the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine powering the BMW 118i, these measures combine to cut CO2 emissions by 29 g/km at the same time as boosting maximum power output by 3 kW (4 hp) to 103 kW (140 hp) between 4,600 and 6,500 rpm. The power unit – which is five kilograms lighter than the one it replaces – generates peak torque of 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) from 1,480 rpm all the way up to 4,200 rpm.
An overboost function briefly puts an extra 10 Nm (7 lb-ft) on tap in fourth gear or higher. The BMW 118i accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.5 seconds and goes on to reach a top speed of 213 km/h (132 mph). It posts combined fuel consumption of 5.7 – 5.0 liters per 100 kilometers (49.6 – 56.5 mpg imp) with CO2 emissions of 129 – 114 grams per kilometer.
