BMW is apparently looking to put spy photographers out of business. Earlier today, the Bavarians have released their own spy photos of the upcoming BMW M8 Coupe, coupled with a video of the powerful M car. The “scheduled spy photos” are part of a communication campaign that kicks off about a month before the car is unveiled.
We’ve also just learned about the new, highly configurable, M Mode in the M8 Coupe, as well as about the new braking system. The M Mode allows the adjustment of driver assistance systems and the screens in the all-digital instrument cluster and Head-Up Display. M Mode lets the driver activate ROAD and SPORT modes, while the new BMW M8 Competition Coupe and BMW M8 Competition Convertible also come with a TRACK setting.
Jorg Weidinger, Project Manager BMW Driving Dynamics M cars, and Martin Tomczyk, BMW works driver, are taking us around the car and also inside the cabin, to experience, virtually, for the first time, the new M8.
It’s also a great opportunity for Martin to showcase his pro driving skills and of course, to tease us about the performance of M8 Coupe.

According to sources, the BMW M8 Competition model will be available at the same time as the “ordinary” M8 Coupe and, of course, will get a bit more power in addition to a sharper suspension tuning. Since we already expect around 630 hp for the production M8, the BMW M8 Competition could even tear down the 650 hp mark.
With that kind of power and the new M xDrive all-wheel drive high-performance transmission, the new M8 is bound to get an eye-watering 0-62 sprint time. The M5 does that sprint in 3.4 seconds while the Competition model is even faster at 3.3 seconds.
First drives of the BMW M8 Coupe will take place this fall.
