The UK market is now preparing to accept the latest and largest BMW SUV ever made – the X7. After its global introduction in February and March, individual markets are hosting their own local press events. The photo gallery below shows two diesel models part of the X7 family – the M50d and xDrive30d.
The fun one of the two is the X7 M50d, a seven seater SUV powered by a 3.0 liter inline-six quad-turbo diesel making an impressive 400 hp and even more impressive – 560 lb-ft of torque. This is sufficient to propel BMW’s largest and heaviest SUV to date from 0-62mph in a claimed 5.4sec and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. Its combined fuel consumption is 40mpg while CO2 emissions are rated at 185g/km.
The X7 M50d features an electronically controlled M Sport differential as part of its standard equipment.
The M Sport Package on the M50d is also standard and includes redesigned front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts in the body color. The side window graphic is also painted in high-gloss black. Other features part of the M Sport Package are the M Suspension, M Sport Brakes, M Sport Exhaust and 20 to 22 inch wheels.
The second model introduced is the 2019 BMW X7 xDrive30d which uses a 3.0 liter turbocharged diesel delivering 256 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque, and can take the BMW from 0-62 mph in 7.0 seconds. It’s the torque that’s most important here, because that peak is available from just 2,000rpm.
Both these X7s were also taken off-the-road for some fun on uneven and muddy surfaces. To “compete” with the true off-roaders, the BMW X7 actually gets an optional Off-Road Package. The pack comes with skid plates, hill descent control, an electronic differential lock and a functional underbody cover. BMW seems adamant that the X7 can handle itself, moderately, on some rough terrain. With four new driving modes – xSand, xGravel, xRocks and xSnow – the X7 will be able to take you through different terrains with a touch of a button.
