The BMW M550i xDrive is quite a potent car in standard guise, even though it uses a bit of an older engine. The latest version of the N63 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo mill is now to be found on two cars, the M850i and new 750i but more models will soon adopt it too, including the M550i. Nevertheless, for those looking for a special 5 Series right now but not willing to upgrade to full-on M5 level, the M550i can still be a tantalizing proposal.
One such lucky customer got one in Abu Dhabi and decided to upgrade it with some carefully picked out upgrades from AC Schnitzer. The German tuner is known to have some of the best tuning bits in the business and this car shows it. Delivered in Alpine White, this pretty 5er comes with a full AC Schnitzer kit that includes a new air splitter on the front bumper, made of a combination of carbon fiber and plastic, new Bi-Color wheels, a new rear diffuser, a new exhaust system made of stainless steel as well as a massive carbon fiber wing on the boot.
The entire thing looks like it’s ready to hit the track. The engine could’ve been upgraded as well but we don’t have any info about that. However, if that’s the case – and I think it was since there was no expense spared here – the V8 has been considerably enhanced. That means the power output has gone up from 462 HP and 650 Nm of torque to 551 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. Those figures are even better than the ones found on the M850i.
The best part is that AC Schnitzer offers warranty on its upgrades for 3 to 5 years, depending on the market. That’s something you don’t really see at other tuners these days, and really says a lot about standing behind your product.
