I have a feeling that you’re going to be seeing quite a few BMW 8 Series’ on the road once they start hitting dealerships. With all of the hype surrounding the return of the famed 8 Series and dealers’ likeliness to push them on customers, there’s a good chance you’ll see more than a few on the road. However, it may not be likely that a lot of enthusiasts ever get to drive one. So if you want to at least see what it’s like to drive the 8er, check out this POV test drive of the BMW M850i from AutoTopNL.
The BMW M850i is a great looking car. It might get some flak for being a bit too tame to be a flagship performance car but its understated beauty truly makes it something to behold in person. In this POV video, you get to see it in person and get a walkaround look at it. It looks great (though the fish-eye look of the GoPro does distort things a bit).
Once inside, though, it looks like a genuinely enjoyable car to drive. Its interior is lovely; with a rich, lavish interior that isn’t too fussy; and it just seems like a great place to spend a lot of time. More importantly, though, it looks like a blast to drive.
You can hear that 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8, even though some of that noise comes through the speakers, and it sounds aggressive. It’s also seriously quick, thanks to its 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. But it also seems to be sharp and dynamic, with the front end biting quickly and the rear end playfully stepping out on corner exit. It looks like a lot more fun than a coupe of its size and weight might seem.
We can’t wait to get the BMW M850i on our home roads to give it a proper test. This video is making that anticipation that much more difficult.
