Approximately 1,600 model-year 2018 BMW M5 luxury sedans are being recalled by BMW of North America, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the automaker. The recalls states that the fuel level sensor in the fuel tank may become stuck against an in-tank fuel line, causing the fuel gauge to display an inaccurate amount of fuel, which may lead to a vehicle stalling and increase the risk of a crash.
The fix will be provided by BMW dealers who will secure the in-tank fuel line to keep the fuel line from contacting the fuel level sensor for free. BMW will begin notifying owners Sept. 10.

Another M5 recall was issued in June in regards to a fuel pump issue. At the time, BMW says that if the fuel pump stops working when the M5 is being driven, the vehicle may stall, increasing the risk of an accident. A total of 846 units have been recalled to address that issue.
