Ahead of its public unveil on April 25, 2018 in Beijing, BMW will give us a quick glimpse at the all-new, and highly awaited BMW M2 Competition. The update for the compact sportsman is quite extensive and undoubtedly justifies the new name, especially since the M2, as we know it today, will cease its production.
From a technical point of view the most important change takes place under the bonnet, where a completely new engine development of the TwinTurbo in-line six-cylinder S55 will be used. The motor variant for the BMW M2 Competition delivers 410 hp and offers more than 500 Newton torque (370 lb-ft). Of course, the engine is equipped with a particulate filter right from the beginning and meets all foreseeable emission requirements in connection with WLTP and RDE.

Due to the increase in output of around 40 hp, the standard sprint will be improved by at least a tenth of a second than the 4.3 seconds in today’s M2 with the 7-speed DCT.
We expect no changes for the top speed, which will be electronically limited to 250 km/h and can be raised by M Driver’s Package to 270 km/h.

The design of the BMW M2 Competition Coupe will also be different from the previous F87 M2. New aprons on the front and rear will ensure an even clearer differentiation of the regular 2 Series models, while the M mirrors will finally appease the M purists.
Even though many magazines and forums called the M2 with the CS name attached to it, BMWBLOG was the first to report its final naming convention: M2 Competition.
All of those changes, along with new colors, will commend a higher price for the M2 Competition, which is rumored to be at least 10,000 euros more expensive than the current M2.
