Hot on the trail of the BMW Alpina XD3 making its world debut in front of a live audience today, the people in Buchloe decided to lift the virtual veils of yet another model sharing the same powertrain, the BMW Alpina XD4. The XD3 and XD4 are sharing exactly the same amount of parts the X3 and X4 models do being basically differentiated by their designs past the B-Pillar.
Under the hood of the XD4 hides the same 3-liter diesel engine as on the XD3 making exactly the same amount of power. With 388 HP and 770 Nm of torque at its disposal, the XD4 is able to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds, once again just as fast as its more practical brother. There is one difference between the two in terms of performance though, as the XD4 can reach a top speed of 268 km/h which is 2 km/h faster than the XD3.
On the outside the usual Alpina treatment has been applied. From the new, classy front end featuring the Alpina logo to the sides and especially the rear end. Round the back we’ll notice the new spoiler on top of the boot lid as well as an additional one just above the rear window. The rear bumper is featuring quad tailpipes and a massive diffuser in the middle, while the Alpina turbine wheels never looked so good.
Even though there are no pictures of the interior available at the moment, the usual Alpina treatment is expected in there as well with Merino leather and the blue, simplified dials taking over from the BMW ones. All in all this is definitely a looker and we can’t wait to see more of what it can do, compared to the X4 M40d model it is based on.
