With the new BMW ALPINA XD4, the Buchloers are showing their first SUV coupe and an exciting alternative to the XD3, also on show in Geneva. Our live photos show the noble-sporty interpretation of the G02 BMW X4 in elegant dark blue and with 22-inch forged wheels in the ALPINA Classic design. In addition to color and wheels, there is a specific front apron with ALPINA lettering, a new rear apron with a diffuser and four integrated tailpipes, and a spoiler lip on the tailgate for reduced lift on the rear axle.
Technically, the new BMW ALPINA XD4 is similar to the XD3, the SUV Coupe is powered by a Quadturbo diesel: six cylinders inline, three-liter displacement and four turbochargers suffice for 388 hp and up to 770 Newton meters of torque. The resulting performance is similar to that of the XD3 – only 4.6 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The overall favorable aerodynamics of the coupe roofline affects not only the appearance, but also the top speed: 268 km/h at least 2 km/h higher Vmax than for the XD3.
ALPINA intends to deliver precise information about the market launch in the second quarter of 2018, when the new XD4 will be available for order. Concrete information on the price ALPINA has also not yet being published, but we may assume a difference in price in the range of 3,000 and 4,000 euros over the X4 M40d.
