The facelift the BMW 3 Series and more recently 4 Series range brought along a new version of ALPINA’s famous counter offerings. Therefore, the BMW ALPINA B4 S Biturbo facelift models are now based on the 440i versions from BMW and use new-age engines. Unlike the 435i versions that used the famous N55 3-liter straight six mill under their hoods, the new 440i versions make use of the B58 powerplant which bring along some improved figures.
The ALPINA B4 S Biturbo now comes with 440 HP and a whopping 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque, numbers better than those of the standard M4 by quite a lot, especially when it comes to torque. Fitting perfectly within the ALPINA philosophy, the B4 S Biturbo also come with a more refined ride compared to the M cars they are aiming at, focusing more on luxury and comfort instead of performance. That doesn’t mean that this part was completely ignored.

As a matter of fact, the ALPINA B4 S Biturbo in Coupe guise can do 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 4.2 seconds in RWD guise and 3.9 seconds when equipped with all-wheel drive. For the Convertible version, customers can only opt for the rear-wheel drive model, which means they’d reach the benchmark speed in 4.3 seconds due to the heavier overall body of the drop top. All models come with a reworked version of the 8-speed ZF gearbox we’ve all gotten so used to lately.
Alas, the ALPINA version is focused more on comfort rather than performance and it will, therefore, offer a serene experience most of the time. Of course, all that racing pedigree the Buchloe-based company has in its DNA won’t be far away at any given moment and all it takes to make it noticeable is a firm right foot. Prices for the ALPINA B4 S Coupe start at €75,300 in RWD guise, go up to €78,200 for the AWD version and €81,400 for the drop top.
