From the media launch of the updated M240i Coupe, BMW brings us a new photo gallery. Even if the two-door versions of the successful 2 Series are presented with new lighting technology on the front and rear, as well as slightly revised kidneys from July 2017 onwards, the actual facelift is played out in the interior.
The instrument display in the black panel design is a thing of the past. Although the modern-looking replacement for the previous instruments is not comparable with the full-digital display of the 3 Series and 4 Series, the black glossy design can definitely be seen and represents a real added value The design of the panel has been thoroughly reworked, especially the trim design in front of the passenger and an additional contrast seam on the top of the dashboard.
The third major update concerns the infotainment system iDrive, as the BMW 2 Series Facelift also marks a visibly more recent stand than before. The most important innovation is the high-resolution touch-screen display – 8.8-inch touchscreen, which makes the operation even more intuitive in some situations. The tile design in the iDrive main menu is customizable in its layout, just as in the rest of the series. In addition, the live contents of the tiles provide some essential information on the weather and navigation.
Apple CarPlay can now be used just as in the larger series without a cable connection, Android Auto is also available. To ensure that the juice does not run out, the 2 Series is equipped with a storage surface for the inductive charging of all Qi-certified smartphones.
The Mediterranean Blue, which is well-known from other series, is now also available for the BMW 2 Series Convertible and Coupe, the Sunset Orange paint, introduced with the 4 Series facelift, also complements the color palette. Completely new in the program of BMW colors is the Seaside Blue.
Four new light-alloy wheels also contribute to the fresh look, like the 18-inch wheels in the style 719 M Jet Black. The same design is also available in a bicolor variant, which is only partially black lacquered. For models with the Sport Line, the 725 style wheel is available in 17 inches. For the Luxury Line, the 17-inch double-spoked wheel style 724 is also available from the facelift.
The new models will be available starting this month.
