BMW DTM driver Augusto Farfus goes behind the wheel of the new BMW M4 CS to showcase the abilities of the new athlete from Garching. Earlier today, BMW held the front page of many magazines with the unveil of the M4 CS at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.
Built to sit between the M4 Competition Package and M4 GTS, the new M4 CS blends some of the hardcore performance of the M4 GTS with the everyday usability of the standard M4 Competition Package. In other words, it’s less hardcore than the M4 GTS, but more of a proper sports coupe than the base model.
BMW’s 3.0-liter inline-six gets a 10-horsepower bump over the Competition Package for a total output of 460 horsepower in the M4 CS. The engine features two single-scroll turbochargers, a charge air cooler, and both variable valve timing and double-VANOS variable camshaft timing. The only available transmission is BMW’s seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission.
The M4 CS hits 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, which puts it in supercar territory around the Nurburgring.
