We don’t see owners upgrading the brake system on their vehicles as much as we might like – specially as one of the first aftermarket additions. This gorgeous Black Sapphire Metallic 435i Gran Coupe was on the receiving end of a BMW M Performance brake system, further improving it’s overall performance. While not a track beast, the BMW 435i doesn’t lack power and it comes with impressive handling prowess – alongside the comfort levels that are cherished by their owners. In turn, this makes the 435i a great track-day vehicle that easily turns into a business four-door coupe on Monday mornings without problems.
The BMW 435i comes powered by a 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, developing 300 horsepower. The award-winning engine combines a twin-scroll turbocharger with variable valve control (Double-VANOS and Valvetronic) and high-precision direct injection, allowing for a smooth and efficient power delivery. Furthermore, thanks to the engine being mated to an 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission that comes with automatic Sport and Manual shift modes and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, it clearly exerts some impressive performance.
Performance of 5.0 seconds for the 0-60mph (0-100km/h) acceleration time isn’t spectacular, but it’s still rather good. Combine that with a top speed of 155mph (250km/h), and the 435i Coupe is no slouch. The BMW 435i pricing starts with a reasonable $46,000 MSRP for the base model. The pricing is significantly lower than the next best thing – the more powerful BMW M4 models which provide the ultimate driving experience for the 4 Series Coupe.
To ensure the braking performance is on an equal level as the engine one, the owner decided to upgrade the 4 Series’ brakes. The work was done by European Auto Source, one of the most premiere tuning companies in the country. The BMW M Performance Brake System chosen for this build features components by Brembo, an undoubtedly proven name in the world of deceleration.
When compared to the M-Sport rotors, these M Performance ones are a little different; the brake rotors found in this kit come cross-drilled and grooved – allowing the Brembo brake calipers to bite them even better. The major features for the M Performance brakes are:
– 4-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle
– Lightweight sport brake discs with riveted aluminum hat in 370 x 30 mm on the front axle
– 2-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the rear axle
– lightweight sport brake discs with riveted aluminum hat in 345 x 24 mm on the rear axle (Optional Upgrade)
– Available in M Performance Red, Yellow and Orange, with M logo
– At least 1 inch larger than the standard braking system
Additionally, this BMW 435i Gran Coupe comes with H&R Lowering Springs, ensuring better cornering performance, but also, a much improved stance. Both the new brakes and the lowering afford the Gran Coupe with much improved visual traits and upgraded performance. You can check out the full build gallery right below.
