This past weekend marked the 2017 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and the BMW brand was represented with some very important models. The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, nestled just south of the Georgia-Florida state line and just north of Jacksonville, has become one of the premier events in the U.S., along with Pebble Beach, for car auctions and car shows.
This year at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, a forecast of strong storms forced the major sale and show to be held a day early, on Saturday, rather than the planned-for and traditional Sunday. Yet despite the schedule change, over two days and five auctions, final results totaled $121.3 million, down from $140 million last year, with the average sale price at $332,345, down from $420,551 in 2016.
Saturday is normally reserved for a large Cars & Coffee show along with Festivals of Speed. Gooding & Company, RM Sotheby’s, and Bonham’s had planned for a day of auctions and fun.
BMW was also on site with a large variety of cars, from the iconic 3.0 CSL racing car to the 507 Roadster and other BMW classics. A full report on the event will follow from our own Andrew Murphy.
For now, lets enjoy this great photo gallery!
