To most Americans, the ALPINA B7 is a bit of a mystery. Essentially, ALPINA takes a BMW 7 Series, bumps up its power, tweaks its suspension, adds more luxury and some of its own unique design touches and it becomes an ALPINA B7. However, it’s so much more than just a tuned 7 Series with “ALPINA” badges on it. It’s more special than the regular 7er.
Packing a 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque variant of BMW’s 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8, the ALPINA B7 is an absolute monster. It’s faster from 0-60 mph than the BMW 750i upon which it’s based, doing the sprint in 3.5 seconds. It also has a top speed of 205 mph, which is staggering for something so big, heavy and luxurious.
Speaking of luxury, just take a look inside the B7. It’s lined with enough cow hide to make a Rolls Royce jealous and the ALPINA-specific touches are gorgeous. While the standard 7 Series cabin is lovely as it is the ALPINA B7 pushes it just a bit further. Check it out at the BMW stand for the 2016 LA Auto Show.
