The Los Angeles Auto Show will be kicking off this November with a full line-up of BMW iPerformance models, as the Bavarian automaker announced today. This marks a new chapter for the brand, one focused on a more eco-friendly attitude. The blue and white roundel will present some of their hybrids at the Los Angeles Convention Center, but good old fashion petrol burners will also be there for the audience to see.
Alongside the featured BMW iPerformance vehicles that include the BMW 740e xDrive, BMW 330e and BMWX5 xDrive40e, additional highlights include the BMW M760i xDrive, BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive and BMW i8. BMW will also showcase new engine variants in the 2 Series. The BMW 230i Coupe and BMW 230i Convertible will be there, as well as the BMW M240i.
BMW also will display its Paralympic racing wheelchair that members of Team USA piloted to seven medals at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio. As the official mobility partner of the United States Olympic Committee, BMW of North America collaborated with the U.S. Paralympic Track and Field team to develop, design and engineer the racing wheelchair which draws upon the aesthetics and engineering of BMW’s signature design.
However, probably the most attention will go to the two announcements that will be made regarding the expansion of the ReachNow service and the ChargeForward EV charging infrastructure. A press conference will be held on November 15 to offer more details about the development of ReachNow. Immediately prior to press days at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the company will announce updates for its BMW ChargeForward pilot program in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, which will explore new smart charging functionality and renewable energy integration, to determine which features provide the greatest benefits to both EV drivers and to the grid.
