For those whom thoroughly enjoy the experience of being on two-wheels, the sensation of passing through the mass of air that no convertible can offer, but want to do so in a way that is environmentally ideal, the BMW C Evolution has been an excellent choice. Now, however, it has become even more appealing, thanks to technology derived from BMW’s i sub-brand.

Admittedly, scooters don’t typically provide the same thrill as riding a more typical motorcycle. The lack of a manual transmission is to many an integral part of the overall experience. However, if you live in a crowded, urban environment, the constant clutch work can become tiresome. The urban environment is truly the C evolution’s intended ‘stomping grounds.’

Thanks to advancements made by BMW within its automobile division, now the C evolution is not only significantly more powerful but it can also travel greater distances, making the vehicle all that more practical as a means of transportation.

The battery capacity of the current model is 60Ah. The new and improved battery, sourced from the i3, has a capacity of 94Ah. As battery technology continues to rapidly advance, such leaps in capabilities were to be expected…It isn’t, however, any less impressive. This enables the Long Range C evolution to travel 160 kilometers on a single charge.

This bump in range isn’t the sole benefit, of course. Even more exciting is the bump in power, an increase of 11hp, bring the new scooter’s power output to 26hp. The top speed is electronically limited to 129 kilometers per hour.

In the A1 driving license version (Europe only), the new C evolution has an output of 11 kW (15 hp). The range here is around 100 kilometers, with a top speed of 120 km/h.

The refresh includes more than just what is beneath the skin, as new paint schemes and graphics will also be accompanying the aforementioned changes. Too, a smaller charging cable will now be standard equipment, and charging times have been reduced. A host of standard equipment will be provided on the new model, like LED lights, reverse assist and Torque Control Assist, just to name a few. Tech like the vehicle’s efficient energy recuperation system, not dissimilar to BMW’s EfficientDynamics, is also quite impressive.

Both versions of the new C evolution are available in the new paint finish Ionic Silver metallic / Electric Green, combined with the contrasting colour Blackstorm metallic. A new graphic has also been added to the centre tunnel trim in the Long Range version. Already available in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Ireland and China, the C evolution is now also due to be launched in the USA, Japan, South Korea and Russia.

If you’re in the market for a serious, premium, eco-scooter, it appears that you need look no further. The ride is said to be quite enjoyable too, as the battery placement contributes to a low center of gravity, making the C evolution agile. Being agile and simple to operate, it opens BMW Motorrad up to those looking to get onto something with two-wheels and a BMW roundel, yet whom aren’t comfortable or simply don’t want to deal with the increased complexity of motorcycle operation.
