Indian manufacturer, TVS has unveiled a concept motorcycle which shares the underpinnings of the BMW G 310 R. As was rumored and as we reported, the motorcycle is fully-faired sport bike, rather than a standard like the BMW.
The concept machine is dubbed the Akula 310, the first part of its name is Russian for Shark and is intended to evoke the predator like characteristics of the motorcycle. The latter part of its name refers to the engine displacement class of the single cylinder motor.
Two things remain unclear at the moment. One of them being how much the new Akula will cost when it reaches production, though TVS has said that it will be priced very competitively, and the other being exactly how much of the vehicle’s componentry is shared with its BMW sibling. However, this information will become available when the production version of the bike debuts later this year.
Rumors of this vehicles existence and now its unveiling have fueled speculation that BMW may, too, off a fully-faired sportbike version of the G 310 R, a G 310 RR of sorts. Some have even speculated that the G 310 R could lead to a full lineup of smaller displacement Beemers which would utilize the same single cylinder power plant, potentially including a G 310 GS. However, before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s see how successful the G 310 R itself proves to be when it’s introduced into the marketplace later this year.
