While BMW is largely known for the Ultimate Driving Machine, they also develop very special vehicles, which may save lives in a complete different way. BMW has been manufacturing and selling premium security vehicles for clients around the world for over 30 years. The first BMW High Security car was the E38 7 Series. The bulletproof limousine was based on the E38 series which ran from 1994 to 2001.
Towards the end of 2000, BMW offered its own factory armored 7 Series, known as the Protection series. Built between 2000 and 2001, most of them appear to be the big V12 variety but a V8-powered 740i variant was also offered. At the time of production, this was conceivably what most private citizens in dangerous locales would need.
The BMW 750iL was Bond’s provided vehicle for the 18th James Bond feature film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).

BMW has released a new video that shows off exactly what goes into creating an armored vehicle from the factory. The manufacturer takes time during development of the base models to ensure the platforms can handle the added weight of the armored plating and glass, and also to fend off any riffle attacks.
