One of a kind: BMW 1M Hatchback

From Eastern Jakarta comes a BMW 1M hatchback. While not a BMW-made 1M, the hatchback employes some of the technical elements that have turned the 1M into an icon.

The car belongs to Posma who also owns a tuning shop specialized in the areas of restorations, engine swaps, and routine maintenance. Occasionally PAG team also competes in local races, relying mostly on BMW race cars of course.

The 1M hatchback started as a three-door 1 Series with a 2 liter engine – before being swapped out for the N54 unit found in the 1M. “Well I was going to build this car as a race car initially but due to race regulations that prohibited these engine specs to compete in the race, I simply decided to finish the car as my daily ride instead,” Posma told Hawknpoke. “I bought the car in 2012 and I built it right away.”

It took him only 6 months to complete the whole project, a rather short time considering the major aesthetics and engine works.

To get the 1M looks on this hatch, Posma installed a set of original 1M bodyparts – starting from the front fascia to the mid-sections. A carbon fiber front splitter enhances the sportiness of this 1M hatch conversion, while the BWM M Perforamnce rear spoiler helps with downforce.

A set of black 19 inch Advan RS-D wheels was added complement the Atacama Yellow body color.

The cabin was adorned with carbon fiber parts and the BMW M Performance Steering wheel. Finished with a pair of BMW performance seats, the interior is as mouth-watering as the exterior 1M conversion. Posma also retrofitted CIC and iDrive unit into the system!

Hardest part comes next – the engine. Posma decided to replace the 2-liter with N54’s twin charged setup, which was then further upgraded to the RB Turbo setup and complimented by a Cobb tune. Active Autowerke BOV and Charge pipe kit were also installed along with an Eisenmann Exhaust System. AR design downpipes were added to further enhance the driving experience.

The end result is truly a masterpiece that not only delivers impressive performance, but also exquisite looks.
