BMW Motorrad has had three of its offerings awarded in Motorcyclist Magazine’s 2015 Model of the Year Awards. BMW is the only brand to achieve 3 awards in a single year.
The R1200 GS, the brand’s best selling model, received the award for “Best Adventure Bike”. Motorcyclist editors noted, “Many other manufacturers have tried to peel back the BMW GS’s headlock on this category.” BMW’s GS offerings have long been a favorite in this segment.
BMW’s highly praised S1000 RR achieved “Best Sportbike”. Though the editors were thoroughly impressed by the bikes staggering power output, they noted that, “it’s also the most civil superbike available and without a doubt the best daily rider in the class.”
The S1000 RR was recently featured in the hit movie, “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”, where the motorcycle arguably stole the spotlight with its dramatic presence.
Last but certainly not least, the R1200 RT was recognized as the “Best Touring Bike”. The editors fawned over the motorcycle saying, “We have an unreasonable man-crush on anything with BMW’s new liquid-cooled engine.”
Clearly, the editors were smitten with the models they awarded, but BMW Motorrad USA’s VP, Kris Odwarka, expressed the significance of having these models receive this recognition by saying, “It demonstrates that the motorcycling community wants and appreciates products that reflect a continued commitment to engineering development and prowess.”
Consumers appear to agree as BMW Motorrad USA has posted a sales increase of 11%, when compared to July of 2014.
