Drag races with rolling starts seem to be the norm in Sweden. Another video footage comes from the same drag strip where weekly head-to-head races take place. In this latest installment, a stock Porsche 911 GT3 (991) with PDK takes on a BMW F10 M5 which had some work done under the hood. This BMW M5 features a Burger Motorsport Stage 1 tune that is likely to produce 600 horses, around the same level as the M5 30 Jahre Edition.
The 911 GT3 is a bit underpowered at 475 horsepower, but makes up for the power difference by being significantly lighter: nearly 500 kg (1,102 lbs). Thanks to lower weight and some racing tricks incorporated in the car, the 911 GT3 runs from standstill to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, whereas the M5 needs 4.1 seconds.
As expected, the Porsche 911 GT3 is quicker off the start line, but the extra oomph produced by the M5 will eventually give it the win. From a standstill, things might have turned out differently.
Let’s have a look.
