The 2016 BMW M4 GTS will be the most radical version of the M4 Coupe. Inspired by the race track, the GTS will be lighter and more powerful than the standard model. Among the innovative features on the M4 GTS, two stand out: the laser lights and OLED taillights. BMW featured the new lightning technology on the BMW M4 Iconic Lights Concept unveiled at 2015 CES.
According to sources, the exclusivity of the 2016 BMW M4 GTS will come from the organic light emitting diodes which allow the light to be generated through a thin semiconductor layer that offer the advantages of being more efficient and allow new design possibilities with an unmistakable light signature.
The lighting is not the only legacy of BMW M4 Iconic Lights Concept for GTS, the new sporty M4 will also adopt the same front and rear bumpers of this concept. The aerodynamic package is completed with a spectacular fixed rear wing made of lightweight carbon fiber, the same material used for the roof, similar to the BMW M4 Coupe MotoGP Safety Car.
Precisely lightweight materials play an important role in the new version of BMW M4 and will feature numerous body panels made of composite (plastic reinforced with carbon fiber, CFRP). The goal is simply to win the war on the scale and get a weight of approximately 1,450 kilos.
For this purpose, the M4 GTS might also lose the rear seats and opt for racing bucket seats in the front.
The 2016 BMW M4 GTS will be powered by the same engine inline-six M TwinPower Turbo of the standard version, but with a power that stretches from the original 431 hp to 460-470 hp. The six-cylinder will probably adopt the new Water Injection system which injects water spray into the engine to achieve additional cooling.
The German brand is in the final stages of development of this radical version whose performance promises to offer unmistakable performance. The first units of BMW M4 GTS will be delivered Spring 2016.
