The new 2016 BMW X1 was just spotted undisguised in China.
The low res photos give us a full look at the design of the second generation X1. The F48 X1 continues the design theme brought to market by the recent BMW models. The oversized kidney grille is surrounded by new, elongated and more attractive headlights with the usual eyebrow. The large air intakes dominate the front bumper which also includes chrome inserts for an increased sporty look.
In the back, the 2016 BMW X1 sports the typical BMW L-shaped taillights, now with LED strips.
Compared to the current E84 X1, the next X1 abandons its long flat hood for a more rounded nose, similar to the 2 Series Active Tourer. The hood is also more sculpted while the front fascia gets more aggressive in looks.
On the side, this prototype displays the “xDrive25Li” lettering, indicating a long-wheelbase model built for the Chinese market.
The new F48 X1 will make use of BMW’s first front-wheel drive platform which can be configured to offer an all-wheel drive option as well.
To gain space and also to feature more attractive and well proportioned design lines, the BMW X1 will take advantage of the FWD setup which offers more interior space.
The 2016 BMW X1 will go on sale later this year.
