Approximately 300 kilograms separate the new BMW F80 M3 Sedan from Audi RS4 Avant. Due to the combined form and all-wheel drive, the Audi RS 4 Avant is indeed much heavier than the sporty established power sedan from Garching, yet it is still considered a fast car.
In the video below, we see the two Bavarian everyday athletes in a drag race with a rolling start which negates the advantage of the Audi’s all-wheel drive.
Large differences not only exist in power transmission, but also in the engine concept: while the BMW M3 F80 runs on a twin-turbo inline six-cylinder with 3.0 liters displacement and 431 hp and 550 Newton meters, the Audi RS4 Avant use a V8 with 4.2 liter displacement and 450 hp.
So the question is: can the F80 M3 keep up with the more powerful RS4?
Let’s find out.
