The new BMW i8 is sold out at most of the dealerships around the country and those few ones waiting quietly on the showroom floors come with a hefty price. Some reports put the price of the i8 as high as $250,000, a hefty premium considering the $136,625.
But for those with deep pockets, the BMW i8 brings a unique proposition: owning a car that very, very few will drive on the road. With its futuristic looks, the i8 is certainly a looker and a head-turner, and it can certainly go head-to-head with the likes of Ferrari or Lamborghini – strictly from a design perspective.
Seen here is a 2015 BMW i8 with a price tag of $250,000 and on sale at Laurel BMW Westmont.
To show the car in all its glory and under the rain, the dealership employed a photographer to spend some time with hybrid sportscar. The Crystal White i8 with its black accents is one of the best color combination offered by BMW for the sportscar. The other paint jobs available to order are the Ionic Silver, Sophisto Grey and Protonic Blue, with a Frozen Grey or BMW i blue accents.
BMW i8 uses a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and BMW eDrive technology in the form of an electric drive system. The 1.5-liter combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8, while the 96 kW/131 hp electric drive sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
