How does a BMW F80 M3 fair in a drag battle with an Audi RS4 Avant? This is exactly the question GTBoard answered in a video showcasing a drag battle between these two cars.
The Audi RS4 is powered by a 4.2 liter V8 naturally aspirated engine that is developing 331 kW (450 PS) and powering all four wheels, thanks to its Quattro all-wheel drive – good enough for a 4.2 second acceleration times. Top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.
The BMW F80 M3 on the other hand is powered by a 3.0 liter twin-turbo engine that is developing 425 horsepower and powering its rear wheels. This performance model is capable of sprinting from 0-62mh in about 4.0 seconds depending on transmission used.
While both vehicles feature similar performance numbers, the Audi RS4 is inferior to the BMW F80 M3 in terms of torque delivery – 406 lb-ft of torque between 1,850 and 5,500 rpm for the M3 compared to 317 lb-ft of torque developed between 4000 – 6000 rpm for the Audi RS4. So the drag results don’t really surprise us considering these figures.
