South-Carolina based spy photographer Palbay spotted the second generation 2015 BMW X6. Two prototypes, in white and brown, were spied near the BMW plant in Spartanburg.

The F16 X6 will make its debut next year and is sharing a platform with the new F15 BMW X5. The design is also built atop the BMW X5 and the upcoming X4, including the new headlights which connect to the kidney grille, larger kidney grilles and a “shark nose.” The 2016 X6 comes with air breathers on the sides, a trademark now on all new BMWs.

At the rear end, the coupe-like roofline flows nicely into the aggressive and elegant trunk. The F16 X6 has also grown in size, rising from 4877mm to around 4910mm. Interior space is increased as well.

Power is likely to come from a new range of twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-litre diesel and tri-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines, as well as a selection of upgraded 4.4-litre V8 petrol for both standard and M division cars. A hybrid version, combining the 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, is also in development.
