The new MINI will be unveiled on November 18th and the company has begun a video teaser campaign.
The MINI F56 will make its world debut at the Oxford plant. Under the hood, almost all MINI F56 models will use the three-cylinder 1.5 liter displacement with the top models getting the new turbocharged four-cylinder BMW B48. The MINI Cooper S F56 with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder BMW B48 makes 192 hp and maximum torque of 280 Newton meters, with the short-term overboost mode producing 300 Newton meters.
The three-cylinder turbo BMW B38 offers 136 hp and starting at 1,250 rev / min, torque of 220 Newton meters, short-term up to 230 Nm. The 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel turbo BMW B37 (MINI Cooper D F56) makes 116 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Newton meters.
The F56 MINI is built on a new front-wheel drive platform which will be shared between the MINI and the FWD BMW vehicles. The MINI Cooper S spied here retains the usual appearance with two centrally positioned tailpipes. Hidden under the swirly tape seem to be Air Curtains that will give the car a more aggressive look.
Inside, the F56 retains the round display positioned behind the wheel, but with a speed indication instead of tachometer. The classic center console in the middle of the dashboard now contains only the radio, navigation and infotainment technology, and is no longer used as an oversized speedometer. The lights are controlled with a switch placed in front of the left knee of the driver.
Stay tuned in less than 2 weeks for the unveil!
