BMW Concept M4 Coupe debuted today at The Quail. The Aurum Dust painted M4 is one of the main attractions here on the famous lawn at the lodge and celebrities like Jay Leno and others stopped by to see the latest concept from the M Division.
Built atop the BMW 4 Series Coupe, the M4 Concept sports an aggressive front end which stands out with large Air Inlets and Air Curtains.
A further striking feature on the front of the new BMW Concept M4 Coupe is the BMW M double bar kidney grille: The black kidney grille bars imitate the characteristic M double spoke design of the BMW M wheels, the M4 emblem on the kidney grille adding an exclusive accent to the front end.
The front apron sports a carbon fiber front splitter. Some of those design elements were exclusively added to the concept car to show some of the aftermarket parts that will become available.
Typical BMW proportions are present on the M4, long bonnet, long wheelbase, set-back greenhouse and a short front overhang. The coupe-like roofline flows into the muscularly designed rear end where a rear spoiler lip is integrated into the trunk lid for optimum downforce.
In real life the BMW M4 Concept is a striking vehicle, a head-turner and one of the best looking ///Ms to date. “This is the best M4 we’ve ever made,” jokingly said Dr. Nitschke, BMW M CEO. Overall the M4 Concept looks very close to the production model and as expected some parts like the wheels or side mirrors will go through some changes. The show color, Aurum Dust, is also….just a show color, but a shade of yellow will be offered in the standard palette of colors.
No word on the power output for the new M3 and M4, but we’re sticking to our prediction of 420 hp to 450 hp range. We’re also expecting a Nurburgring lap time below 8 minutes.
More information will be unveiled next month when we get to learn all about the new BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe.
