The darling of all BMW fans, the 1M, gets another power upgrade from a German tuner. This time, the folks over at LEIB Engineering are taking a stock BMW 1M and are upping the power output in two stages.
The tuner remapped the ECU and installed a new flap exhaust system that gives the car an even deeper sound. In the first package, the total power is 400 hp and 413 pound-feet of torque — up from 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet. Without the speed limiter, the 1M Coupe hits a top speed of 190 mph. LEIB Engineering programmed the flap position control to the M-button in the multifunction sports steering wheel.
Those that have a little more money and feel ready for a hot-rod on four wheels, a 500 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque offering is available. The extra power comes from the use of larger turbochargers, a suction system with a larger cross-section and completely revised cooling and exhaust packages.
Since the car needs a specific look to differentiate from the “regular” 1M, Leib gave the “baby-M” a matte gray wrap and 10-by-20-inch Bavaria BC5 Concave wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan sports tires sized 255/30R20 on the front and 275/30R20 at the rear. The rims are painted in a blue similar to Laguna Seca.
The BMW Performance carbon rear spoiler trunk lid was also partially covered with foil, while the Alpha-N tail diffuser one level lower clearly exhibits a light-weight but high-strength high-tech composite with its characteristic shimmer.
