The latest addition to the M lineup, M6 Gran Coupe, comes to the 2013 New York Auto Show. The four-door M6 goes on sale this spring and will cost $113,000, only $3800 more than the M6 Coupe.
The M6 GC packs the S63Tü high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology that produces 412 kW/560 hp and 680 Newton metres (502 lb-ft) on tap between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm, while maximum output is developed between 6,000 and 7,000 rpm. The engine revs to a maximum of 7,200 rpm. 0-60mph is achieved in 4.1 seconds with a top speed limited to 155mph. The engine is matted to a 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic.
U.S. customers will also get a choice between a DCT and a manual transmission. M Ceramic brakes are also optional with a price of $9,250.
The M6 Gran Coupe will compete in the four-door coupe segment with similar offerings from Mercedes-Benz and Audi.
The 4+1 seat addition to the M6 family combines stunning proportions, design and driving dynamics of the M6 Coupe with interior room and amenities for up to five passengers. The interior of the BMW M6 GC reveals the driver-focused cockpit design typical of the brand and a luxurious ambiance for all those on board.
The exterior colors are similar to the M6 Coupe, including the Sakhir Orange paint. Both for exterior and interior, customers have a choice between standard colors or some others from the BMW Individual catalog.
