Buchloe-based automaker ALPINA releases two videos of the new B3 BITURBO and their first SUV, XD3 BITURBO.
Under the hood, the XD3 uses a a straight-six, aluminum 3.0-liter engine with two turbochargers, common-rail direct injection and variable turbine geometry. It has a maximum output of 350 horsepower (257 kW) at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) reached between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.
The engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission specifically engineered for this model.
Fuel consumption is rated at 6.8 liters per 100 km or 415 MPG, with CO2 levels kept in check at 180 g/km.
In a typical ALPINA upgrade the XD3 gets a more aggressive exterior design with a new front bumper, wider skirts, electronically-adjustable dampers, 20-inch Alpina Classic wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport low-profile tires, custom exhaust manifold, stainless steel exhaust system with dual double-ended tailpipes.
The B3 Biturbo models share the same 3.0-liter, twin-turbo, straight-six engine producing 410 horsepower (310 kW) between 5,500 rpm and 6,250 rpm, and 598 Nm of torque (442 lb-ft) at 3000 rpm. The transmisison of choice is a ZF eight-speed automatic.
The B3 Biturbo runs from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h). ALPINA reports 7.6 liters / 100 km ( 30.9 mpg) fuel consumption.
