The following report is courtesy of Tuner Motorsport Team running their bimmers this weekend at the Detroit GP.
“Morning practice started out pretty grim. Out pit box was under about 6 inches of water. As the 2 hour session went on the track began to dry out and lap times dropped. We started out in the 2:10s and got down to the low 1:40s with Bill Auberlen piloting the #94. This track is very tight and technical. “It’s a learning experience for all the teams and drivers, not many of us have been hear before.” Will Turner Paul Dalla Lana put in some laps this morning to familiarize himself with the track and get some seat time. The wet conditions have made it difficult to really get a good handle on the technicalities of the track.
If the track continues to dry out lap times should continue to fall this afternoon. Hopefully the track will dry out considerably for qualifying. The team is working on some setup changes anticipating dryer weather. We have our figures crossed hoping for some changes in weather. Currently the radar is showing some bands of rain moving up from the south.
Race is live tomorrow on SPEED at 5pm.
