Last week, BMW announced the recall of 32,000 vehicles due to electric auxiliary water pumps that can overheat and cause a vehicle fire. The recall applies to V8 and V12 turbocharged engines.
Because the Rolls-Royce Ghost shares its 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 with the BMW 760 Li, the 2010 RR Ghost is being recalled for the same water pump issue.
The circuit board for the auxiliary water pump in the turbocharged V12 engine could potentially overheat. If that occurs, it could cause the pump or entire engine to smolder and potentially cause a fire.
Rolls-Royce will contact owners later this month to notify them of the campaign. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the water pump at no cost. Customers can contact Rolls-Royce at 1-877-877-3735.
589 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost were sold in the U.S.
