Attendees at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed at the beginning of July will be the first to see the new BMW M5 in the flesh as the super saloon will be making its UK debut at the show.
Show goers will also get to see the new 1 Series in the flesh for the first time, as the second generation of the Audi A3 rival makes its public bow in a closed-room environment on the company’s stand.
Both the M5 and the 1 Series will be making static appearances only, with the 1 Series being kept in a room on the stand that is supposedly only open to prospective customers and media.
The 1 Series was criticised for its styling when the first pictures were released, so this will be the first chance for the public to see if it is better looking in the metal.
The BMW 1 Series will go on sale in September, priced from £19,375, while the M5 arrives in November from £73,040.
BMW will also be sending a host of other cars up the famous hill over the Festival weekend including a 1986 M3 that will be driven by former racing driver Steve Soper, and a modern homage to the 328, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary at the show. The M3 is celebrating its 25 anniversary at the same time, and will be appearing in its most extreme format – the M3 GTS, which will also be heading up the hill. The Z4 GTS will also be taking part in the famous hillclimb.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from 1-3 July at the Goodwood estate in West Sussex.
