As explained in the past by BMW, the new car, starting with the design and continuing with all the aero dynamics elements and the more fuel efficient engines, is the latest iteration of their EfficientDynamics program. Coupled with increased performance and a higher level of luxury, BMW hopes will steer away customers from the Audi Q5 or Mercedes GLK.
BMW is planning to move 25,000 X3 models in 2011. The newly redesigned and second generations X3 goes on sale later this year and it will be manufactured at Spartanburg facility.
The X3 xDrive35i will be the first model in US showrooms with a base price, including handling and destination, of $41, 925. That comes with a long list of standard features. The X3 xDrive28i arrives in showrooms sometime after teh xDrive35i and has a base price of $37,625.
